Richard A. Douglas (1945-2012)
Richard A. “Dick” Douglas was born November 23, 1945, in Pipestone, Minnesota to Donald and Leona (Smith) Douglas. After living in Texas for a short time, the family moved to Omaha, where Mr. Douglas graduated from Creighton Preparatory School and Creighton University. Following service in the United States Army, Mr. Douglas graduated from Creighton University School of Law in 1973, and moved to Scottsbluff, where he began his law practice.
Mr. Douglas was the president of the law firm Douglas, Kelly, Ostdiek and Ossian, P.C., at the time of his death. He had many clients whom he represented with integrity and diligence. His passion for education was reflected in his representation of Scottsbluff Public Schools, Western Nebraska Community College, and many other school districts in western Nebraska, along with presenting numerous seminars for the Nebraska Council of School Attorneys, as well as estate planning seminars.
Mr. Douglas was an active member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, the Scotts Bluff County Bar Association, Nebraska State Bar Association, and the Nebraska Council of School Attorneys. He loved playing golf, discussing politics, and spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his advice, his generosity, and his sense of humor.
